Dr. Jayakumar Patil practices solo so every visit is with him personally - never a rotating panel of providers. His approach is unhurried, conservative with medications, and grounded in long clinical experience.
Background
Dr. Patil earned his medical degree from J.J.M. Medical College in 1981 and completed his psychiatry training in the United States. He has been in active clinical practice for more than 40 years, and has spent the last several decades serving patients in southern New Hampshire and the greater Manchester area.
He treats adolescents (ages 10 and up) through adults, with particular attention to mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, bipolar illness, OCD, and phobias.
Philosophy of care
Mental health treatment works best when patients feel heard. Dr. Patil takes time at each visit to understand context - family, work, sleep, substances, medical history - before refining a plan. He is conservative with medication: the goal is the smallest effective dose, started carefully, and adjusted with patience.
When therapy or specialized treatments would help, he refers to trusted local clinicians and coordinates care with your primary care provider so nothing falls through the cracks.
What to expect
Initial evaluations run about 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are typically 20–30 minutes, scheduled weekly, monthly, or quarterly depending on where you are in treatment. Records and questions between visits are handled by phone - there is no patient portal at this time.
Meet the practice
A small, family-run office.
The practice is run by Dr. Patil and his wife, Purnima, who serves as office manager. Purnima handles scheduling, billing, insurance verification, and the day-to-day of the office - so when you call, you'll usually speak with her.
Keeping things small lets us know our patients well, return calls promptly, and treat each person like more than a chart number. When the office isn't open, you'll often find them enjoying a scenic stroll, trying out a new restaurant, or settling in for an Indian movie.
